Body Connective Tissue (Facia)
While fascia has virtually been treated as the 'Cinderella tissue of medical
research', recent years yielded significant insights on the importance of this
body wide tensional network for many areas of musculoskeletal medicine. Based on
these new developments fascia can now be seen as our richest sensory organ,
particularly for the sense of proprioception and embodiment. In addition, there
are increasing indications that fascial nociception as well as micro tearing and
inflammation of fascial tissues are key players in many cases of soft tissue
pain such as in acute low back pain, in frozen shoulder or in Delayed Onset
Muscle Soreness (DOMS).
Robert Schleip is director of the Fascia Research Project of Ulm University
in Germany and co-initiator of the 1st Fascia Research Congress at Harvard
Medical School.

Ergonomics
A workplace ergonomic assessment is more than just a review of someone's posture
whilst they sit at their workstation and a recommendation that the company
purchase an adjustable desk and chair for their employee. A thorough review
takes into consideration body type, habits, physical fitness, history, movement
capacity etc and should identify "real-world" solutions for management of
existing and potential issues. Massage Therapy provides real solutions in the
area of ergonomics and the stresses on the body.
